I love the constant adventure of living. I can honestly say that I believe in 2 things: Love. And eternal forward momentum. 

I look back with fondness, but vow to always more forward. 

Forward and up are the only directions I have any interest in going and I am exhilarated by the constant wonder of it all.

I’m a lucky girl. Very lucky. Even with the broken hearts and bruised egos, life is still very much magic. 

And all I ever wanted was a little magic

and it’s nice not to have to run away to find it, because it’s been here all along. I see it and I feel it and it feels good, man.

My mom bought me a new sewing machine just because. Everyone wins!

Ummm, I love this band. Sometime this week, I’ll get a shot in the tee they’re sending me, but until then, check them out and love them, too.

A lifetime full of emotions is bound to be a complex and messy thing. In the mess, there’s great happiness and also great pain. I guess the key is not to let yourself one prevent you from experiencing the other. 

In Happiness, you allow yourself to wonder and to dream, to imagine all the things that you might be and forget all the things that you already are. In pain, you find your truth- the demons and secrets you hide away and only occasionally uncover to remind you of all the dark places you’ve been. In between happiness and pain is fear. And this is the worst place of all. Fear causes you to cling to what little you have and prevents you from reaching out for what you really need. If you’re lucky, an angel will come into your life and rescue you from the fear, take you by the hand, pull you high above the ground and show you what it’s like to smell the inside of clouds.`

Romantic curiosity, I suppose. I’ve never had to define it before, so I really like the challenge of this question. It’s a mix between attraction and interest, but it’s in a very young or underdeveloped state. It’s wanting to know more about someone who piques your interest with no real obligations of any kind.

some. there are some who put more effort in than I could ever ask for and I love them and need them so much for that. They keep me sane. It’s easy for people to get caught up in their own lives and that’s when people drift apart. It sucks, but it happens.

I’ve felt like you a lot in the past. It’s got to be give and take, though. And it has to be mutual give and take. otherwise, you’ll get used up by emotional manipulators who are content only to take and you’re left with nothing and no one. You don’t need to feel obligated to go through that just because you care about someone. Some people are best loved from a distance, afterall.

your choices are to talk to your friends about it or move on from them, hopefully to someone who appreciates the boundless love you undoubtedly have to give.

LOVE WINS AGAIN!

I’m really happy about the NY Senate getting with the program. I’ve heard a few people say things like, “It’s a sign of the times” and “Proof Jesus is coming back soon” (I live in Nashville, hellloooooo, Bible Belt) and I’m just like, loooook…if you don’t like the idea of gay marriage, don’t have one. I don’t see any reason to assume that God would somehow have a problem with people who love and care for each other declaring publicly that they love and care for each other. 

And people are all “blah, blah, blah being gay is a sin and marriage is a sacred institution rooted in religious whatever,” to which I reply: CALM DOWN. RELAX. FUCKING CHILL. Love is not going to be a sin. Ever. Not real love. God’s whole deal is love and it’s definitely man that overcomplicated the whole thing, as man tends sometimes to do. He’s probably got way bigger things to worry about, wouldn’t you think? And as far as the whole sacred institution, by that exact same principle- no one of different religions (even sects of the same religions!) would ever have the right to marry, no atheists or agnostics would ever have the right to marry, no one who is not exactly 100% on the same page with their spouse AND their church would ever have the right to marry and to be honest, people o different ethnic backgrounds probably couldn’t marry. And when you start telling people who they have the right to love, well, then you’re just a big old douche full of hot, stinking garbage.

If gay sex weirds you out, don’t have it. 

I know there are a lot of fundamentalists/traditionalist/conservatives out there thinking something terrible is going to happen a a result of this, but to you, I say stop living in fear. Just because things are different than what you’re used to doesn’t make them bad or wrong. What goes on in other people’s personal/romantic/love lives shouldn’t even register to you. I’m sure you’ve got your own shit to worry about, so try that.

We hate what we fear and there’s no reason to hate or fear. It’s all about love.

Love is all you need.

I don’t remember it all, but I remember enough. Enough to still count this as a love letter and enough to qualify it as possibly the last one to you.

I remember climbing up an old drawbridge with you, past rusty overgrown railroad tracks, nerves going all jittery as I sat on that tiny platform. There, with you, thinking, “How romantic,” and feeling so unromantic. What a perfect moment? We didn’t kiss. Instead, surrounded by sea and sky, you put your arm around me, smiled, and let out a sigh, looking out onto the horizon. And it was beautiful. What could I offer you? Nothing much, except to let you know I loved you and always would and that you always have a hand to hold on the start of your new adventures. 

And we climbed down, friends again. Best friends. Beautiful and messy, like we’re so good at being when we get together. And I didn’t even realize how high we had climbed until I looked back up to see where we’d been. And, for once, I never thought about my paralyzing fear of heights (which we both know gives me problems in my waking life and makes it hard to do simple things, like climb to the top of the stadium bleachers at our old college).

You were always my favorite surprise. There will always be old drawbridges with you. Even if only in dreams.
